About Me

So you have spent hours in the classroom teaching those eager little minds.

You have given your all, you have delivered amazing lessons, put on a performance or two to ensure all eyes were on you and you had them hooked, and now you are exhausted.

All you want to do is go home and relax.

BUT

You know tomorrow you are teaching again and you need products and activities that will engage and teach and be suitable for your class.  So you go home, you grab a quick dinner (maybe) and you sit at your computer and begin working, planning and creating again, until bedtime.

Sound familiar? As teachers it often feels like our students get the best parts of us, we leave so little time for ourselves and often for our own children.  So it's not surprising we can end up feeling overwhelmed and we burn out.

Well that's where I come in

Hi, I'm Angela, I am a mum, a teacher and the creator of 'The Almost Their Height Teacher' store on TPT.

I have a passion for creating activities and motivational tools for the classroom that engage, and are easily differentiated based on where the child's learning journey is at.

My products have been heavily influenced by my two sons who are both dyslexia, so layout, choice of fonts, design, color and white space are key components of my design.

So to is learning through having fun. I find through providing games and activities where my students are having fun, moving, talking and interacting with others often leads to greater learning and engagement.

So let me take some of the pressure off you, join me here on my blog and I will let you in on my teacher journey, stories from my classroom, products I have created and used with my students, or products I have found from others which have been amazing, and along the way I'll even share a few exclusive freebies with you.

A Bit About Me:

My store name came about because of my height - I'm just over 5 ft and ever since I have been working in schools I have had children come up to me and tell me they are 'nearly as tall as me' or that they 'are almost your height'.

Even 5 year olds do it.
 I mean I know I'm short,
but I'm not 5 year old short.

I always wanted to be a teacher, but was told when I was 18 that I looked to much like the age of the children I was going to be teaching so to come back in a few years.  Well a few years kinda got away on me.  I traveled, got married and had two wonderful boys (who now tower over me).   I was working in my youngest sons school and volunteering in their dyslexic program when a few of the teachers there pushed me to follow my dream.

So I was definitely a more 'mature' student when I qualified and could finally call myself a teacher.

My love of creating happened at the same time,  the biggest influence was having brought some products for my youngest son (who is high on the dyslexic spectrum), that looked amazing, and I thought would help him with his learning.  I was wrong.  While the activities looked good, and the fonts were fun, Matthew couldn't read them, he found the task cards too busy and within moments he was over it.

I knew then that there were a lot of Matthew's in our classrooms, and there needed to be products that kept them in mind as well.  And so my two journeys started at the same time.  But I love it.  Creating and designing is my release, it's how I unwind after a day in the classroom and it's a joy for me too do.
